Knaresborough CC enjoyed a 20-point Saturday on May 4th after two convincing wins.
At Aspin Lane, team captain Joe Reynolds won his first toss as skipper and chose to field. This proved to be the right choice, as Knaresborough skittled through Heworth’s batting line-up for 62, thanks to 5-23 from Tom Metcalfe (including his first ever hattrick!), 2-12 from Charlie Sutcliffe, 2-16 from Joe Sutcliffe and 1-6 from Joe Preece.
The runs were chases in 21.5 overs, thanks to 24* from Andrew Ward and 21* from the captain Joe Reynolds.
Not too far away, at Harrogate CC, Knaresborough’s first XI also won the toss and elected to field. Harrogate’s second XI posted 199-9 from their 50 overs, thanks to an opening knock of 96 from Sanjay Mani. 3-22 from Blake Weymouth and 3-54 from Andy Ward were the pick of the bowlers, with healthy contributions from Toby Giddings (2-37) and Tashmial Henry (1-29).
With 200 the target, captain Greg Pickles and overseas superstar Blake Weymouth walked out to the crease. Both batters started the innings with fast runs; Greg Pickles made 25 (38) before he was caught. Dom Tear provided a solid base, rotating the strike and giving Blake plenty of opportunity to score. The innings finished after 37.1 overs, seeing Knaresborough reach 200 with a wide ball. Blake Weymouth finished on 94* (114) and was supported with a powerful 33* (21) from Toby Giddings to wrap up the day.
